American Greed

I consider myself a pretty hard-working person. I work a hard days work and earn a decent wage. Occasionally I have to go to conferences or travel for work. On a recent trip I was staying at a hotel and I wanted to get some breakfast after a good workout. I went down to the restaurant downstairs to inquire about getting a decent meal rather than something processed.

I asked the receptionist about a buffet, and she stated to me that it was only $35 per person. I’m absolutely shocked by this! Businesses continue to take advantage of everyone.

I get there are people in this world that try to take advantage of the system in any way they can, but the constant fees and price gouging has gotten out of control.

On my way to this trip, watching the airlines, nickel and dime you for every single thing you want to do has absolutely hit an all-time high. All of these companies make billions on ridiculous fees and force people to pay them. It just puts a distasteful flavor in your mouth for these companies sheer greed.

Something even more fun to add to this story. So I go to the hotel coffee shop, that’s Proudly Serving Starbucks, but charges twice as much as a regular Starbucks. I ordered a coffee with steamed milk, and an oatmeal. When I was asked to pay, the screen came up and immediately asked me if I wanted to tip 18%, 20% or 23%. I didn’t want to tip anything for someone pouring my coffee. I had to hit 4 buttons to get to zero. The server then proceeded to give me massive attitude. My question is, do the employees get this, or does the corporation?

It’s just getting ridiculous what America has become.
